Individual Therapy
We provide individual counseling/therapy for those who want one-on-one treatment from a trained mental health clinician.
The first session of therapy often focuses on gathering information. A therapist will inquire about your past physical, mental, and emotional health. They also discuss the concerns that prompted your journey into therapy. You can use your first session to decide if the therapist’s style is a good fit for your needs. Finding a therapist you are comfortable with is vital to successful treatment. It is important to talk about the type of therapy to be used, treatment goals, session length, and how many sessions are needed.
Our therapists encourage people in treatment to do most of the talking. At first, it may be hard to talk about past experiences or current concerns. Sessions may stir up intense emotions. It is possible to become upset, angry, or sad during treatment. However, our clinicians will help you build confidence and become more comfortable as sessions progress.
Clinicians might assign “homework” to help you build on topics discussed in the sessions. Individuals in treatment can also ask questions at any point in the process. As time passes, people in therapy may develop a more positive mood and healthier thinking patterns.
Why individual therapy?
Therapy can help people overcome obstacles that impede the optimization of their daily functioning. It can increase positive feelings, such as compassion, empathy, and self-esteem. Individuals in therapy can learn skills for handling difficult situations, making healthy decisions, and reaching goals. Many find they enjoy the therapeutic journey of becoming more self-aware. Some people even go to ongoing therapy for self-growth.
Common reasons individuals seek individual therapy:
- Depression
- Anxiety
- Stress
- Grief/Bereavement
- Trauma
- Relationship Issues
- Work Related Stress
- Addictions
- Self Esteem
Psychological Evaluations
Psychological evaluations are the process of gathering and integrating data to evaluate a person’s behavior, abilities, and other characteristics, particularly for the purposes of making a diagnosis or treatment recommendation. Vitalize Psychologist’s assess diverse psychiatric problems (e.g., ADHD, Autism, learning disabilities, etc) and nonpsychiatric concerns (e.g., legal, risks, recidivism, etc) in a range of clinical, educational, organizational, forensic, and other settings. Assessment data is gathered through interviews, observation, standardized tests, self-report measures, physiological and/or psychophysiological measurement devices, or other specialized procedures and apparatuses.

How do I set up a testing appointment?
All evaluations require a psychiatric intake to determine medical necessity and proper course of assessment instruments. An initial appointment takes approximately 45-50 minutes and will review relevant histories and ongoing symptoms. At the conclusion, your psychologist will discuss formal assessment recommendations and will work with you to acquire insurance authorization or other fee schedules.
